Out with Grandma

It is a wonderful day in Chungju. Grandma has decided to take you and your brother for a walk (you're a five year old Korean girl, and your brother is about four, by the way).  It's a warm day, and you manage to talk Grandma into buying you ice cream.

YAY!

You're walking home, your hand in Grandma's.  Your brother is beside you, eating his ice cream.  He got vanilla, but he's a stupid head.  You've got chocolate, because CHOCOLATE, DUH!

Your Grandma looks behind you and gives a little smile.  She glances down at you and your brother and goes "Pssst!"  Then she jerks her head back.

You don't understand. Is there a mosquito bothering her?  Is she trying to say something?  Is there more chocolate?  Your brother doesn't care one way or the other.  He's lost in an ice cream haze.

"Psst!" Grandma gestures behind you.  You look over your shoulder and see...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S AN OGRE!  IT'S GOING TO EAT ME!  WHY IS GRANDMA LAUGHING? MY BROTHER!  MAYBE I CAN GIVE MY BROTHER TO IT!  MOM WOULDN'T MIND!  HE'S SMELLY ANYWAY!

OH NO!  IT'S COMING CLOSER!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...And that's the story of how I literally scared the crap out of a little Korean girl today.  She shrieked for a good minute while her brother looked at me with an expression of dull confusion.  Grandma, by the way, thought all of this was HI-LARIOUS!

Go me!
